Professional Development Policy
- A list of each teacher’s successfully completed PD activities is kept in their personal online portfolio.
- PD portfolios must consist of activities from at least two different categories (1 – 4) in order to unlock badges and prizes. They should also consist of different activity types from within a category to produce a balanced portfolio. For example, not all entries should be webinars or PD workshops.
- Teachers may get the same kind of PD activity recognized more than once, e.g. reading two different books, but repeated activities of a similar nature should be cleared in advanced with the PD coordinator.
- It is the responsibility of each teacher to keep their portfolio updated, to meet deadlines, to seek clearance when needed, and to enter information into their portfolio accurately and according to specifications. Academic coordinators can assist with any questions you may have.
- To determine eligibility for a badge, certificate or prize, each teacher’s portfolio will be reviewed by the PD coordinator.
